Jim Carrey aided in the creation of a Robotnik comic book for Sonic the Hedgehog

It appears that Jim Carrey and his role as Dr. Robotnik became close enough for him to contribute to the creation of a Sonic the Hedgehog comic book story.

Sonic the Hedgehog now has its own movie universe, with a fully developed canon and all, separate from the games as it may be. It’s fascinating to think about. Just like the infamous Super Mario Bros. movie from the ’90s got a sequel and Shigeru Miyamoto’s seal of approval, it’s like this. This is one of the most baffling timelines I’ve ever encountered.

That said, it’s always good to have the option (or perhaps necessity) of adding to an already-established canon. Sonic: The Movie: The Game hasn’t even been released yet, but comic books have already taken hold of the world. To be honest, I was more surprised to learn that this comic based on the Sonic movies was created by none other than Dr. Doom himself. Dr. Wily isn’t here. A million fanfiction writers’ keyboards went up in flames at the mention of him.

Despite his recent success as Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and its upcoming sequel, Jim Carrey helped create a comic about his character. After writing the original film’s book adaptation, author Kiel Phegley has begun to explore the world of comic books. According to reports, Carrey himself is expected to spearhead an entry in his upcoming series of stories between the 2020 film and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 that focuses on Robotnik.

Twitter user Phegley excitedly announced the new release of the retro-inspired Sonic the Hedgehog 2, calling it “the official ‘Pre-Quill'” to the retro-inspired Sonic The Hedgehog 2. Among them are IDW Publishing’s Riley Farmer and David Mariotte, as well as Evan Stanley, Tracy Yardley, and Adam Bryce Thomas, all of whom were instrumental in bringing him on board. Phegley, however, revealed Carrey’s role in the comic’s Robotnik story in his final tweet of the short and energetic thread.

“Sonic The Hedgehog 2: The Official Movie Pre-Quill comic, written by Phegley, “features the absolute G.O.A.T. Mr. @JimCarrey as the narrator!” It’s both bizarre and engrossing.” Despite the lack of specifics in this thread, it’s exciting to know how Dr. Robotnik’s character will be developed by the mind behind such classics as Ace Ventura and The Mask. Not only does this give viewers faith in the story, but it also shows that he’s invested in the role, and that’s a recommendation worth more than a few bucks. The fact that Carrey didn’t actually write for the comic, but rather spearheaded its creation, is worth noting for those unfamiliar with the series.

When it comes to Carrey’s best work, “really weird and dope” is the most accurate way to describe it. We hope that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 isn’t Sonic’s final appearance in the goggles and mustache. More outlandish lunacy like this is needed in the world, especially to counter the outlandish lunacy that is already occurring on a regular basis.

On April 8th, 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be released in the United States.
