Fishermen in Texas Capture a Jet Black River Beast

When Justin Jordan and Terrell Maguire stumbled discovered the beast, they were fishing on a marsh in the southeast of Texas.

According to Jordan, who works as a fishing guide in the region for Lotus Guide Service, the species in question was a "quite unusual" melanistic alligator gar.

The fishing guide uploaded photos of the strange catch on Facebook, where fans remarked on it.

Jordan said in the captions that accompanied the images, "Well found out melanistic gar do exist."

In the photographs, the monster can be seen flailing about in the water with its mouth wide, exposing a row of enormous, white fangs.

Alligator gars are the largest gar. Large fish native to North and Central America. Some may grow considerably longer than the normal 6.5 feet.
